Overland Park Native Takes 3rd Place at Strider Cup Race

Carney Brings Home the Bronze in the four-year-old class Boulder Civic Area

BOULDER, CO (June 26, 2019) – Four-year-old Max “MAX BMX” Carney hoisted his 3rd place trophy at this year’s Strider Cup Race at Boulder Civic Area. Boulder was overrun by children and toddlers ages 19 months to 6 years old’s as they raced in the June 15th Boulder Strider Cup. Majestic mountains served as the backdrop as nearly 250 racers from around the world competed for the top trophy on Strider Balance Bikes. Full race results and images from the event can be found at

MAX BMX told his parents that his favorite part was seeing his racer friends from previous events. “Strider ALWAYS puts together a great event for the kids. We have traveled all over just to participate,” dad, Clif, expressed.

Carney along with other children and toddlers tested their skills, dashing through the hanging pool noodles of the “Noodle Monster” and launching over “Mount Scary,” two ramps positioned back-to-back with smoke rising from a “lava-filled” crack in the center. The little racers whizzed though the track with a mix of determined stares and elated smiles. They were cheered on by friends, family members, and inquisitive pedestrians — all of whom were full of smiles watching the youngsters’ race.

The remainder of the 2019 Strider Cup Series will continue in North America with balance bike races on July 6 at The Commons in downtown Minneapolis. From there, the North American race series will take a trip north of the border, hosting a Strider Cup in Surrey, British Columbia on August 17. The 2019 toddler bike racing season culminates at the Strider Cup World Championship in Charlotte, NC on October 5 and 6, 2019.
